History

Tumshangilieni Mtoto- shangilia is a non profit Organisation which  was founded in 1994 by the late actress Ann Wanjugu.

Over the years we were able to develop the project with our partner Shangilia Germany and other supporters for the benefit of the children and the environment.

Main annual achievements:

2019/2020

– Garden redesigned according to the principles of permaculture. Introduced permaculture in our farm
– Construction of a grey water purification plant

2018

Construction of the biogas plant

2017

Completion of the apartments for some of the staff members.

2016

Construction of the playground for the young children.

1995 - 2016

The Shangilia Kids performed in various countries Germany, USA, Zanzibar, Thailand

2015

Commissioning of the solar system and cultivation of the garden

2014

The home and the stage construction was completed. The home relocated from Kangemi to Kibagare.  An own borehole and the collection of rainwater ensures the water supply is constant.

2013

in October 2013 the new Skate Park was opened.

2012

On the 27th October 2012 the new school complex was opened by Her Excellency Mrs Margit Hellwig, Germany Ambassador to Kenya.  A new and exciting achievement for the project!

2009

Purchase of the new land in Kibagare

2004

Japheth Njenga took over the executive management of Tumshangilieni

2002

Ann Wanjugu passed away and a manager took over the management of Tumshangilieni

1994

Shangilia was founded by the late Ann Wanjugu.
