Our History

Tumshangilieni Mtoto- shangilia is a charitable children institution and a non-governmental Organisation that was founded in the year 1994 by the late actress Ann Wanjugu. Tumshangilieni mtoto is located in Kibagare slums in Nairobi Westland’s sub county .

1994 Founding

1995 1st International Tour

In the year 1995 Tumshangilieni children performed their first international tour in Germany under the UNICEF

2002 Ann Passed Away

Ann passed away and Susan took over the executive management of Tumshangilieni

2004 Njenga takes over

In the year 2004 Japheth Njenga took over the executive management of Tumshangilieni

2004 We aquire the new land

In the same year 2004 the purchase of land in Kibagare was successful and completed

2005 Zanzibar Festival

In the year 2005 tumshangilieni mtoto performed in Zanzibar international festival

2007 USA Tour

In the year 2007 tumshangilieni children toured the United States of America , Atlanta , Georgia, Washington, New York and showcased their acrobatics, dancing, rapping, singing

2008 Another USA Tour

In the year 2008 the children toured united States of America – New York and performed on Broadway

2009 German Tour

In the year 2009 the children toured and performed in Germany

2012 3rd USA Tour

In the year 2012 the children toured united states of America Minneapolis, Minnesota

2012 New School Complex Opens

On the 27th October 2012 the new school complex was opened by Her Excellency Mrs Margit Hellwig, Germany Ambassador to Kenya.  A new and exciting leap forward for the project!

2013 Skate Park Opens

In October 2013 the new Skate Park opens. Built with the support of the German SkateAid organization

2014 European Tour

In the year 2014 the children toured and showcased their theatre skills in Germany, Austria and Slovannia

2016 Third Germany Tour

In the year 2016 they toured and performed in Germany
